Crop production branch work closely with Diversification Centers (DC), Diversification Centers: PESAI, CMCDC, PCDF, WADO, DCs are located in different agro-climatic areas in Manitoba and they represent different soil types, protein analyzer for seed, applied field research equipment to conduct small plot trials, Crop diagnostic lab, Crop specialists with MSc and PhD degrees, Trained staff to conduct small plot replicated trials, Statistical analysis software, MCVET Database
Primary Production and Harvesting
Staff in the Crop production branch are involved with Manitoba Crop variety Evaluation Trials (MCVET). MCVET serves as an independent third-party crop variety evaluation program for producers and the seed industry in Manitoba. MCVET committee oversees the production of an annual variety performance report known as “Seed Manitoba”. Under the MCVET program we conduct variety testing in Peas, Soybeans, and edible beans. In addition conduct protein analysis on peas and soybeans.
